okay, so what's wrong with this picture:
i was sick yesterday and had to talk myself into taking a sick day. yeah, who has a problem with that?
i've been feeling bad for a couple of days, and we had this big 'challenge day' thing where the kids share a lot of emotions and try to combat hate/intolerance etc. so i already had a sub, so what's the big real right? i realized after i quit acting like a dummy that really what i was worried about is that the other teachers would think i was punking out of the day.
then i started thinking about why i was worried about that, and then i realized what a weird crappy concept we have collectively about rest. it's usually seen as weakness and lack of commitment. i was trying to look for a description of how sick days are handled in other countries for a better option and i ran across this little gem sweet article on sick days. basically it says that some companies are paying people to not use their sick days because of mistreatment problem which sounds insane.
maybe the problem is people misusing their days, but it just sucks because sometimes people really do get sick and they shouldn't get a bad rap because of it. another thing i've been thinking about is the fact that it's almost more work for teachers to get sick than to just go to work, but then you get other people sick which is more selfish than staying home and missing work yourself. anyway, forgive this little rant as i have been immobilized with weird sinus goo filling up my head all day watching the boob toob. tomorrow i'm sure i will feel better!

I am glad you stayed home, I am a firm believer that you should stay home when you are sick, I always get better quicker and like you said, you aren't getting others sick. I missed you but more glad you are taking care of yourself! I have some drama to share with you when you get a sec!
i feel you. on all counts. i hope you do feel better.
i don't think i could imagine you punking out of anything, even if i tried my hardest.
