8th block started at 12.30. at 12.32 corneshia harris was thrown into me by a friend who through open the door. this is the kind of annoying that makes you want to pull a lever to make a child go to wherever veruca salt (the bad egg) ended up. because we had so much to do, i just kept teaching and yelled for everyone to tighten up because we had to type essays in the library.
a student, who was doing nothing in various locations around the library, eventually got mad enough at me redirecting him politely that he walked out. i said, "dood, don't leave. you know what i have to do if you leave (write him up). he said, "i know, miss carter" in a not mad matter of fact tone.
these are the types of things that make it necessary to watch a youtube video like this that makes no sense and is slightly annoying. i think it's the first one i ever saw. i think turbo showed it to me many moons ago.
p.s. 2 actual conversations that happened today:
1.
dante: ms. carter, why aren't you married?
me: because i haven't found anyone cool enough.
dante: you should try the club scene.
2.
mariyah: how do you do a works cited?
me: i told you last class. you have notes, and it's on the internet.
mariyah: i don't think i was here.
me: yes, you were. remember, you said "fuck you" to me.
mariyah (to another student): do you know how to do a works cited?

awesome stories yet again...does dante get snippy with you sometimes? like if you try to tell him to get on task or something?
Corneshia was one of my tenth-graders if I remember correctly. She'd come to class late and not write papers. Am I right?
For some reason, my mouth wanted to call her "Cor-na-SHEE-a" instead of "Corn-EE-shia." Don't know why.
ahhh....memories...like the corners of my mind....
oh, Sarah, Sarah, I feel for you, ***laughs, laughs, laughs***.
Loved that it was necessary to watch the youtube video:the nerdy kids looked amazingly comfortable in front of the camera...
And the number 1 conversation [with Dante], is an example of what could be collected in a book of teacher/student conversations that you can publish in the future and that will generate a lot of money for you :-).
dude....that you and mariyah convo is a great comic! my mom laughed her tuckus off about it!
Oh Lawd! You rock Sarah...this is a great example of why YOU are a teacher and I am not. I hope one of my boys get you for English sometime. Any thoughts of moving to our side of town?
xxooxxoo,
